Project Summary:

– Tight timeline, Clients wanted an upscale look and feel

Are you ready for some FSU Football?

This would be our second FSU stadium skybox remodel but this one was a little larger. The clients contacted us in late April 2024 with the goal of being ready for the fall football season, which meant everything had to be complete by July 10th.

They wanted an upscale look and feel to the space, not your typical “garnet and gold” makeover. They had some great memorabilia they wanted to show off including signed jerseys and prints.

Initial Concept and Budget

Process: Our initial design and budget consult includes 3D concept drawings and a good better best budget for your project. This gives us a pretty good idea of what the project might look like and help to create a more accurate budget. We also continue to explore options in the design phase.

Before Plan

The FSU stadium skybox was pretty basic before the remodel. A very small kitchen and 8 stadium seats. It did have a small bathroom (one of the only skyboxes that did). Portable tables were brought in for serving food and extra seating.

Before: Basic layout with a small kitchen

Initial Concept

Initial concept: remove bathroom and expland the kitchen. Add island and a bar for game viewing.

Initial Budget

After the initial concept review the budget for the project was $130,471. We creating an alternate version that brought the budget down to $112,340 but the client preferred the first option.

Design and Planning

Process: After you have approved your initial concept and budget the design process begins, starting with our designers visiting your home. We have between 2-4 design meetings in our showroom to finalize all the details of the project, including a fixed price contract and a detailed project calendar.

Final Design

During design the clients decided the extra cost of the island was well worth it so the desinger created some new options for them that included widening the opening between the kitchen and living room.

They also decided against new floors in the living room and doing tile in the kitchen instead of wood.

Final Design: The final layout was similar to the concept with a few changes.

Project Challenges

Challenges And Solutions During Construction

The logistics of working at Doak Cambell Stadium are always a little challenging. This project was also under a tight deadline.

Unexpected Delay: Refridgerator

The Fisher-Paykel fridge was ordered from Mays-Munroe and delivery was delayed multiple times. Fortunately we got it installed right before the project completion.

Ceiling Issue

After removing the bathroom we realized the ceiling the bathroom area was higher than the rest of the suite. Because of the sprinkler system we could not change the ceiling height so we had to create a small coffered area where the bathroom was.

Stadium Seating

The facilites team at the Stadium accidentally threw away the stadium seating. This turned out to be a benefit as they replaced with with newer, upgraded seating.

Project Timeline and Final Costs

Project Timeline

Like most of our project this one started right on time. We did finish about 1 weeks past our expected completion due to a delay in countertop install. The counter was initially mis-cut and had to be remade.

Total project length was 10 weeks (1 week longer than expected).
