Jack and Jill Bathroom in Lake Jackson
Lake Jackson, Tallahassee

Elliot Holtom, Project Manager
-
- $3,618 over our initial estimate
- $435 in change orders during project
Project Summary:
We’ve worked with this client before, and this time, they wanted to update their upstairs Jack and Jill bathroom in Tallahassee. The old layout wasn’t working.
There wasn’t much storage, so the counters were always cluttered. The toilet was open to the whole space, which didn’t give much privacy. And the tub-shower combo? They rarely used it.
We swapped the tub combo for a walk-in shower. We also added a wall to separate and close the toilet area.
We also built in custom storage to keep everything organized. Now, the bathroom is way more functional and feels like it really fits their needs.

Timeline, Challenges & Solutions
Discovered plumbing error
When we installed the shower, we realized the hot and cold were flipped, by a previous contractor. Hot was on the right, cold was on the left. Our plumber caught it early and was able to fix it without any major changes.
Toilet Room Was Too Tight
After framing, we noticed the toilet room felt cramped. There wasn’t enough space to move comfortably. We pushed the wall back about six inches to make it work better.
Material Issues
- One of the vanity faucets was missing a part. We ordered a replacement under warranty.
- A light fixture shade showed up broken. We had to reorder it.
These were small hiccups, but we caught them early and kept the project moving.
Total project length was 6 weeks (Finished on time)
